Overview
A Playlist is a curated collection of conversations (calls, chats, or emails) that you bring together for a single purpose — coaching examples, calibration sessions, or learning material for an agent skill. Each playlist contains items that point at real conversations in Ender Turing, so opening an item jumps straight back to the original recording or transcript.
Playlists live under the Trainings group in the main navigation. They are also the building block that supplies "watch these conversations" content inside Skills. Training Plans do not attach playlists directly — they bundle Skills, and any playlist content reaches a learner through the Skill it is attached to.
How It Works
Accessing Playlists
Open Trainings → Playlists from the main navigation. The landing view shows every playlist in your workspace and is the starting point for creating new ones, organizing existing ones, or opening a playlist to manage its items.
You can also reach a specific conversation playlist from inside a Skill: clicking a playlist in the Skill's learner view opens the playlist's item list in a new tab, and you can open the conversation behind any row from there. The learner must have View Playlists for the Skill's playlist cards to render at all — Manage Playlists alone does not populate them. Opening the conversation behind a row additionally requires the Conversations Base — Read All or Read Own permission; the Read Team scope is not accepted by the conversation-view route, so a learner with only Team-scoped conversation access can open the playlist but will land on an authorization error when they try to open a recording.
Who Can Do What
Action | Who |
See Playlists in the navigation | Users with the View Playlists or Manage Playlists permission |
Open the playlist list and view items inside a playlist | Users with the View Playlists permission |
Create, edit, archive, or delete a playlist | Users with the Manage Playlists permission |
Add, rename, or delete items inside a playlist | Users with the Manage Playlists permission |
Pin a conversation to an existing playlist from the conversation card | Users with both the View Playlists and Manage Playlists permissions |
Create a new playlist from the pin menu and pin the current conversation to it | Users with the Manage Playlists permission |
Manage Playlists controls write actions only — reading existing playlists and their items still requires View Playlists. Roles that need to manage playlists in practice should be assigned both permissions. A role with Manage Playlists alone can open the Playlists page (it appears empty because the list cannot be loaded) and create a new playlist, but cannot open an existing playlist's items. On a conversation, the bookmark icon shows the pin menu, but the menu loads with error notifications and an empty list of existing playlists; only + Create Playlist is usable, so the user can create a new playlist and pin the conversation to it but cannot pin to any playlist that already exists.
The system Favorites playlist itself cannot be renamed, archived, or deleted, even by users with Manage Playlists. Its contents are not locked, though — users with both View Playlists and Manage Playlists can pin and unpin conversations to Favorites the same way they can with any other playlist. Because Favorites is a specific existing playlist that has to be picked from the loaded list, Manage Playlists alone is not enough to add to or remove from it: without View Playlists the pin menu cannot show Favorites and the "create a new playlist" workaround does not apply.
Browsing Playlists
The playlists landing view offers two layouts. Use the icons in the toolbar to switch:
Table view — one row per playlist with columns for name, conversation count, team, and labels.
Cards view — a grid of colored cards showing the playlist name, the number of records, the team owner, and a short preview of items from the playlist. (The preview is a fixed-size sample, not the most recently added items.)
Your choice is remembered locally for the next time you open Playlists.
Two more controls help narrow the list:
Active / Archived toggle in the top bar switches between live playlists and ones that have been archived.
Quick filter above the list combines three controls: a free-text search that matches on the playlist name only, a labels selector, and a teams selector. Selecting Common in the team selector shows playlists that are not assigned to any team. (Label and team text is not matched by the search box — use the selectors instead.)
In the table view, you can click the label cell on any row to add or remove labels inline. Creating a new label from the inline picker also makes it available to other playlists. Editing labels (creating new ones or attaching/detaching them) is governed by the Enders / Automation Management permission, not by Manage Playlists — users without it will hit an authorization error when they try to change labels from the table.
Creating a Playlist
Open Trainings → Playlists.
Click + Create Playlist in the top bar.
Enter a Playlist name (required) and click Save.
The playlist appears immediately in the Active list and is empty until you add items. If the top-bar toggle is set to Archived when you create it, the new playlist is still created but is hidden from the current view — switch the toggle back to Active to see it.
The create dialog only asks for a name. Team ownership and archive status are set later from the playlist's detail-page header (see Opening a Playlist and Editing Its Settings). Labels are set inline from the Labels column in the table view.
Opening a Playlist and Editing Its Settings
To open a playlist, click its card in cards view, or — in table view — click the playlist's icon, name, or the chevron in the row's action column. (The row itself is not a single clickable target in table view, so clicking on the team or labels cells will not navigate.) The detail view lists every item in the playlist and lets you change the playlist itself from the title bar:
Rename the playlist or change the Team owner with the pencil icon next to the title.
Archive the playlist with the Archive switch. Flipping the switch enters edit mode on the header — you still need to click Save for the change to take effect. Once saved, archiving moves the playlist out of the Active list; clearing the switch (and saving again) restores it.
Delete the playlist with the trash icon. The delete icon only appears while the playlist is archived, so deletion is a two-step action: archive first, then delete.
All three controls require the Manage Playlists permission and are hidden on the system Favorites playlist, which is marked with a (Default) suffix in the title bar.
Adding Conversations to a Playlist
Conversations are added one at a time from the conversation itself:
Open the conversation from Conversations (or any other list that opens a session).
In the conversation header, click the Pin to playlist bookmark icon.
In the menu that opens, pick an existing playlist or click + Create Playlist to make a new one on the fly.
A checkmark appears next to the playlists the conversation already belongs to. Click a checked row again to unpin.
The conversation is pinned with an automatic title in the form "{Playlist name}: Record added {date}" — the playlist's name and the date the item was added. You can rename it later inside the playlist.
Archived playlists do not appear in the pin menu.
Managing Items Inside a Playlist
Inside the playlist's detail view, each item is shown with:
A conversation type icon (call or chat) that links back to the original conversation.
A Title you can change per item — this lets you label why a specific conversation is in the playlist.
The Record details: agent name and the conversation start date.
The conversation Duration.
A Reactions summary aggregated from reactions left on the original conversation.
Added by: which user added the item and when.
Use the search box in the top bar to filter the visible items by title or agent name.
Renaming and Removing Items
With Manage Playlists, two per-row actions are exposed:
Rename an item — click the row's pencil icon, change the Title, and save. Empty titles are shown as Empty name in italics.
Delete an item — click the row's trash icon; the conversation itself is not affected.
There is no in-playlist control for moving an item to a different playlist or for acting on multiple items at once. To move a conversation between playlists, delete it from the current playlist and then pin it from the conversation page to the new one (see Adding Conversations to a Playlist).
Archiving and Deleting
Archived playlists stay in the system but are hidden from the Active list and from the pin menu on conversations. Switch the top-bar toggle to Archived to see them.
A playlist can only be deleted while it is archived. Deletion removes the playlist and all of its items but does not affect the original conversations.
The system Favorites playlist cannot be archived or deleted.
Using Playlists in Skills and Training Plans
Playlists are the audio/text content source for Skills. When you build a Skill in Trainings → Skills, you can attach one or more playlists, and the Skill's learner view then offers them to the agent. The Skills section also loads the playlist list to populate the attachment selector, so a Skill builder needs View Playlists in addition to their Trainings permissions — without it, the selector opens empty and existing playlists cannot be attached. See Skills for how playlists feed into training, and Conversations for everything you can do on the conversation page itself.
Tips and Caveats
Pinning to an existing playlist needs both View Playlists and Manage Playlists. Users with View Playlists only can open and read playlists, but they cannot add or remove items. Users with Manage Playlists but no View Playlists can open the pin menu (with error notifications) and use + Create Playlist to create a new playlist and pin to it, but they cannot pin to any playlist that already exists — including Favorites — because the list never loads. Roles that need to pin to existing playlists must be assigned both permissions.
The Favorites playlist is global, not personal. It is shared across the workspace — treat it as a system collection, not as a per-user favorites list. Its name and lifecycle (rename / archive / delete) are locked, but its contents are not: any user with both View Playlists and Manage Playlists can pin and unpin conversations to it.
Archiving is reversible, deletion is not. When you are unsure whether a playlist is still in use, archive it first; you can always restore it by clearing the Archive switch.
Items reflect their source conversation. Reactions and duration shown on a playlist item come from the underlying conversation. Changes to the conversation are reflected the next time you open the playlist.
