Mastering Building Charts in Expert Mode: A Step-by-Step Guide
Introduction (Overview)
What is this feature?
The Building Charts in Expert Mode feature provides advanced capabilities for creating dynamic and interactive charts within the Ender Turing platform. It allows users to deeply customize data representation through formula-based rows, visibility toggling, bulk editing/experimenting mode, and sorting functionalities.
What problem does it solve / What is its purpose? Its primary purpose is to enable users to:
Create formula-based rows to calculate relative numbers, such as percentages, offering a deeper understanding of data proportions. Formula-based rows help overcome the limitations of basic charts that often only display absolute numbers, making it hard to grasp the relative significance of data points.
Efficiently manage and modify filters across multiple chart rows simultaneously using a bulk edit mode feature. It streamlines the process of applying filter changes to large datasets, which can be time-consuming if done manually.
Hide irrelevant data, sort by name or Asc/Desc to make your chart read as easily as a single-digit number.
Key benefits:
Enhanced Data Insight: Convert absolute numbers into percentages or other calculated metrics to better understand proportions and relationships within your data (e.g., percentage of very long conversations out of the total).
Improved Chart Clarity: Hide original absolute number rows after creating percentage-based representations for a cleaner, more focused chart view.
Increased Efficiency: The bulk edit mode saves significant time and effort by applying filter changes to multiple rows at once, which is especially useful for large and complex charts.

Prerequisites
Users should have access to Ender Turing’s advanced analytics or reporting modules. See the Roles help section to tune your roles and Permissions
Basic familiarity with creating and editing charts within Ender Turing. See help materials on Basic Charts functionality.
Guide to Using the Feature
Step 1: Enter Expert Mode
Navigate to the Charts section within your Ender Turing dashboard.
Select the chart you wish to customize.
Click on the Expert Mode toggle at the top-right corner. You will enter a more detailed and customizable interface for chart building.
Using Formula-Based Rows
In the Expert Mode interface, locate and click the Add New Row button.
Switch to Formula-based mode
Enter your desired formula in the provided input field. For example, you might enter a formula to calculate percentages or averages
A/(A+B)*100
.Press Save to save and see the results reflected immediately in the chart.
The new row will dynamically calculate and update based on your data inputs.
Hide/Show Rows
Hover over the row labels on your chart to display visibility options.
Click the eye icon next to a row label to toggle its visibility.
Rows you hide will be removed visually from the chart but will remain available for later use.
Bulk Edit Mode (Experimenting Mode)
Click the Bulk select icon located near the top of the Table.
Select multiple fows (at least 2), make filter adjustments and click Apply Changes after making desired changes.
After making desired changes, click Exit Bulk Mode.
All adjustments will be implemented simultaneously, allowing quick experimentation and comparison of multiple scenarios.
Sorting
Identify the row you wish to sort.
Click the Sort icon (typically represented by arrows or
A..Z
) next to the row header.Choose either Ascending or Descending order by clicking multiple times.
The chart will immediately reorder data according to your selection.
Key Concepts or Terminology
Formula-Based Row: A customizable row within a chart where data is calculated dynamically based on a user-defined formula.
Bulk Edit Mode (Experimenting Mode): A specialized editing interface allowing users to make multiple chart modifications simultaneously before applying them collectively.
Tips for Effective Use / Best Practices
Experiment with formulas in the Bulk Edit mode to quickly test and validate various data scenarios.
Regularly hide unnecessary rows to maintain clarity and focus in your visualizations.
Sort data strategically to highlight important insights or trends immediately.
